The 2016 River Valley Blues Festival was a tremendous success. Six bands delivered every style of blues imaginable, from the delta blues of Roots & Dore to the soul and r&b of Rhoda Weaver and the Soul Mates, the bawdy blues of Bygone Blues, the dirty southern soul of Stolen Hearts and the high-energy blues/rock of the Zuzu Welsh Band and headliners Andrew Scotchie & The River Rats.  An estimated 1,000 people were present during at least part of the festival, with a peak of nearly 500 between 5PM and 8PM. The weather was gorgeous although we had some scattered showers, and those in attendance were enthusiastic and energized by the display of excellent local and regional music.

The 2017 River Valley Blues Festival has been set for August 19, 2017, and the Zuzu Welsh Band will again be appearing, along with Ashley Heath, The Paper Crowns, Roots & Dore, Moses Jones, Pam Taylor, and headliners the Dirty Badgers. The site will remain the incredible Salvage Station, along the banks of the French Broad River. Music will start sometime around 2PM and run until 11PM, and of course all the wonderful food and beverages available normally will be available, along with craft vendors and more.
